Newline's News Bulletin 2011
December 2011

Parys Show was another resounding success. Lori Nelson of the USEF had the chance of a lifetime to show in South Africa. George Borcherds brought a horse for her to the show and "Princess" Lori and Cinderella got a blue ribbon in the Three Gaited Natural Mane and Tail Division!
The broodmares and Sir Willam’s Knight were
relocated to the new Cornerstone Farm of Fred Sarver at Carlisle, KY. What a
wonderful facility this turned out to be!
November 2011
More brilliant foals were born to mares from Junior
Smith, Piet Moller and Kevin Eltringham. The stallions show tremendous
prepotency! Now to wait for them to make their mark in the showring in a
couple of years!
October 2011

Moorreesburg was a very well organised show and the first of our show circuit for the year. Black Magic and Junior was exceptional at their first show together and they won the Mare Three Gaited Championship as well as Third in the Three Gaited Grand Championship. KSF 2011!! What an extragavanza of horse flesh this
was yet again!
Nutcracker offspring again excelled at the show,
followed by I'm A New Yorker, Sir William Robert and Periaptor offspring.
Unfortunately Sir William's Knight got sick after he
was weaned and although he went to Smith Lilly for training, we decided against
showing him at Louisville. He is a magnificent colt and will stay with Fred at
Cornerstone.

The brood mares are in wonderful condition and next
year’s foal crop will be interesting.
So Graceful is in foal to Sir William Robert. We hope
for a similar great cross as WCC With Style & Grace.
Katharine’s Perfect Night is again in foal to
Undulata’s Nutcracker. We hope for a filly this time.
Callaway’s Lean On Me is in foal to
Mountainviews’s Heir To Fortune, the best Supreme Heir stallion available in
the US. This foal will be eligible for the AAC in September 2012.
May 2011
Due to Kevin’s health and being exceedingly dangerous for him riding and showing young horses, all the horses in training were transferred to Junior Hugo and Tears & Roses Stables. Black Magic also returned to the Cape to be bred to Made In Heaven. In the meantime she will reside at Tears & Roses Stables.

Preparing for our Bloem Nationals is under way.
Kevin’s back is unfortunately creating problems again and Hanlo Smith will
catch-ride all the young horses at Bloemfontein for him. He and Made In Heaven
has clicked and they really look the part.
Black Magic and Elizka put on their best show so far
and was awarded with a 4th tie in the Three Gaited Mare Championship.
Made In Heaven showed against much older horses and was the only real Two Year Old in this class. Hopefully in 2012 they will change this age rule back to the real age to make it fair on all the horses in the Junior classes. All the mares he bred from October onwards also have taken its toll as he really was very unsettled in the stable with all the other foreign horses around him. He and Hanlo however still got a 3rd tie.

The first Africa Saddlehorse Futurity show was held in Middelburg (Eastern Cape) and was a resounding success!! A Newline bred and owned filly, Perfect Style and Grace, by Tornado’s Perfect Timing out of the mare SJ Sharp Salute, won the R25000 prize money! She was also the first recipient of the Sir Clarence Ronald Memorial Trophy donated by Sandra Harding. George and Andre Botha showed her to perfection. What a proud moment for all at Newline Saddle Horse Stud! The 4th place, War Timing is by War Image Boy out of Perfect Tango also bred and owned by Newline. Perfect Timing’s fillies, as predicted, will be sought after broodmares in future!

The 3 newest Americans arrived at KE Stables! Quantum of Solace, the first Newline bred Nutcracker colt, is extremely pretty, long necked and very gifted. The first I’m A New Yorker offspring in S.A., Star On Broadway looks like a teddy bear at this stage, but has perfect conformation and everyone loves him. Fancy Dancer seems like she is going to be a handful and pretty as can be!

They have arrived, but we are not allowed to see them
before they have completed their quarantine after 30 days! Very frustrating!
In the meantime had
some good news from Fred Sarver, Katharine’s Perfect Night has produced a very
beautiful stud colt by Sir William Robert, he will be named - Sir William’s
Knight. He will be eligible for the Weanling Futurity at the 2011 KSF, how cool
is that!
The American mares have been bred as follow:
So Graceful to Sir William Robert
Katharine’s Perfect Night again to Undulata’s
Nutcracker, (we hope for a full sister to Quantum Of Solace)
Callaway’s Lean On Me to Mountainviews’s Heir To
Fortune (the best Supreme Heir stud in the US!)
January 2011
The new American foals are heading for Cape Town very soon. If all goes well they will arrive early February on South African soil.
Perfect Attitude, the Timing filly out of Miss Tinkerbelle is beautiful and as fine as a deer. I managed to get some pictures of her at Middelburg with the help of Spottie, the sheepdog and the rest of the Borcherds men! She is giong to be a great one. Her dam, Miss Tinkerbelle has the same blood as Braveheart's dam!!! Quaker Town combined with Ace's Bourbonette and on top Scandal's Last Tango with Cameo's Rosa Lee.
Happy New Year!

Perfect Attitude striking a winning pose, showing off her beauty and charm!
